Raj Ghat is the mausoleum of Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of India's independence movement. It is a simple marble platform located at the site of Gandhi's cremation, one day after his death. The platform is outdoors in a peaceful garden beside the Yamuna River in Delhi, with a constant flame lit in his memory. Inscribed on the stone are Gandhi's supposed last words. Today, many world leaders visiting India pay their respects at Raj Ghat by bowing down to Gandhi. Visitors must remove their shoes when approaching the marble platform as a sign of respect. The atmosphere at the mausoleum is quiet and filled with emotion, and it may occasionally be closed without warning for security reasons or during national holidays, including the anniversary of Gandhi's death in January.
When you arrive at this restaurant, you have the option to either stay up and observe it from a distance or go down a ramp to enter. I recommend going down the ramp because once you're there, you'll experience a sense of tranquility and peace. I also appreciate that smoking is not allowed here.
