Micanopy Historical Society Museum

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this museum in a small town with a rich history. There are restaurants and shops nearby. The exhibits were well-curated, showcasing various periods from the Seminole era to present day. It is definitely a must-see when in the area. Admission was free, but donations were accepted.

The restaurant has a large historical collection from Micanopy, including items from the Indian War and Civil War periods.

The building and area is very nice, nearby downtown looks pitoresk, just about 5 shops but cute. Museum is small, viewable in about 20min. I enjoyed hearing the guide explain abit, theyre very nice.. but missed learning about Chief Micanopy, missed artifacts of him or any tribes and wanted more information about the Natives...this is focused on the European settlers, Bertram, they dont mention slavery..I would combine this only if downtown has a nice festival at same time..
