The Local - Alameda

The owners are fantastic, the staff is wonderful, and the music is excellent. Everyone inside is relaxed and having a great time celebrating the 4th of July.

I had the pleasure of being both a customer and a barista at this place, and it was hands down the best experience I've had on the island. Otto is incredible, and everyone else there is super friendly too!

This is a fantastic local gem with quick service and excellent coffee. I usually order the iced caramel latte, which has become my favorite in the area. Food: 5/5.

Check out this picture of my wine glass—I snapped it just before taking a sip! Do you find it as funny as I do? I ordered a veggie bagel loaded with toppings and added salmon. It was impressively tall and filled to the brim; I managed to eat half and took the rest home. It was delicious! The service was excellent, and the music selection was very soothing.

The coffee and service here are fantastic, and I appreciate their commitment to reducing plastic waste by providing paper straws, even before it becomes mandatory in Alameda. A big thank you to The Local for saving used coffee bags for our Canoe Club, which we use to supply the Encinal Boat Ramp Beach TLC station with bags for beach clean-ups.
