The week before my visit to Roma Bakery, I was at Salvador De Rosa's bakery in Manori, Italy. My wife and I spent a few weeks vacationing across Italy, indulging in some of the most exquisite cuisine in the world. Upon returning to Albuquerque, I sought out an authentic Italian bakery. Unfortunately, when I visited Roma Bakery, I attempted to order my favorite treats by name but was disappointed to find they didn't have any of them—no Italian pastries or even a simple loaf of Italian bread. The closest item they offered that resembled an Italian pastry was something dusted with powdered sugar, which looked like an Italian wedding cookie but was completely off in shape and size. While the items displayed behind the glass appeared pleasant and likely tasted decent, that’s why I rated it two stars. I left without purchasing anything because I was hoping for genuine Italian pastries. Overall, this place felt as authentic as a hot dog at a gas station.
I never got to try the food because we waited almost an hour during our lunch break. Other tables that arrived after us were served before we were. When we requested a refund, we were told it would be just five more minutes for our order. The service was terrible, and I have no intention of returning. Thanks for making a waste of our lunch break.
The sweets are the best! Oscar is so nice and helpful as well. He made me a great vanilla latte!
Breakfast burrito was very large and tasted great. The owner was very friendly and appreciative of my business.I’ll be back.
