Von Jakob Winery Brewery - Alto Pass

I am from Texas and on my trip to Chicago from Memphis, I accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant. It turned out to be a great experience. The lady taking care of me provided me with a variety of wines to try. In the end, I ended up purchasing 6 different bottles that I will enjoy at home with a delicious dinner. I am definitely planning to go back to buy more and also try the food at this place. Thank you!

I love beer and the company I was with, so we decided to try out 3 different pints and 10 samplers at this restaurant. Usually, I expect to find a couple of beer styles that a brewer excels at, but unfortunately, none of the beers appealed to any of us. They all had a strange taste and unpleasant aftertaste. We reluctantly finished sampling each beer, leaving most of them untouched. One of us even struggled to finish his pint, refusing to waste the beer. Perhaps the wine at this place is better, but if you're looking for a good beer selection, I would suggest avoiding this restaurant.

I hope to help someone avoid disappointment by sharing my experience here. I ordered nachos and a BLT, and both dishes were of a quality comparable to what you would find at a concession stand in a public pool. The wine we had was quite dry and not very good, and to make matters worse, a fly ended up in our glass due to the abundance of flies in the outdoor dining area. I'm not sure what all the rave reviews are about. The view was nice, though. Additionally, I was not a fan of having to pay a $3 deposit for the wine glass, which I found to be a bit tacky.
