Nice italian restaurant in a beautiful setting, directly next to the lagoon. A 10min TukTuk ride from Hikkaduwa, but worth the effort to go there. Run by a french/italian couple (they also have 2 bungalows and offer cooking classes), supported by attentive staff, they offer a small menu of freshly prepared delicious food. We tried the seafood tagliatelle and the jumbo prawn, both super tasty! We finished with a chocolate vulcano, a complicated dish executed in perfection. They offer a TukTuk service to bring you back to Hikkaduwa, for a fair price. Overall not cheap, but certainly worth the money. Recommended!
Yes, I know. Who'd have thought? But it's TRUE! Fresh linguine with local crab was perfect. The journey there by tuk tuk was an adventure. The location is stunning; only disappointment is we weren't there for sunset. Yes, bring your repellent if you're susceptible to bites (that my friend, is common sense)...you're dining al fresco after all! Chef owner is a talented maestro of flavours.
We were so excited to visit this restuarant after reading all the reviews, that we spent an hour cycling there. When we arrived we were very excited about the beautiful ambiance and seating area. We ordered Antipasto a la Casa, which was quite expensive so we had our hopes high, unfortunately when it came the portion was very small (there was a singular olive, instead of putting 2 or 3), not worth the cost. My boyfriend ordered the jumbo prawns and he was extremely satisfied with them. However I ordered the lasagne, it did taste great however I found two pieces of bone amongst it. Personally for the price I paid I really didn’t expect something like that. Especially considering that this place is 60% more expensive than any other place we have been to so far. Besides offering to cook another meal (which I didn’t accept because I was full already) the restaurant didn’t do anything to compensate. Overall we didn’t have a terrible experience, but for the price we paid and the hype we were expecting something better.
We went here for a dinner organised by out Airbnb hosts. That was a good thing because sometimes the kitchen is just closed. I will recommend to book a table in advance. The garden and the view is beautiful here. The food is amazing but also a bit pricy. The menu is changing on a per day basis. So don't expect just to get a pizza or a traditional pasta. It might not be served that evening. You can pay with credit card but they charge 3% for that. Despite us there were one more couple that evening, it still took +30 minutes to get the dinner. The staff is very friendly and provides a overall good service.
