Devonshire Arms - Amber Valley

We would like to thank everyone at the restaurant for their warm welcome. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. One of my friends requested egg and beans on toast, even though it wasn't on the menu, and the chef kindly prepared it. It took us some time to locate the restaurant as the postcode provided was incorrect (not DE55 7DF). However, a helpful man in Alfreton pointed us in the right direction.

We arrived about 10 minutes before closing time while searching for a pub in the area where we were staying that served pub food. We were amazed by the delicious food they offered. The portions were generous and tasted like proper home-cooked meals. The staff were friendly and there was a great selection of real ales available. This pub was awarded Camra Derbyshire pub of the year in 2018.

I apologize for the delay in posting this review as the restaurant re-opened in 2016. The new managers at Sam's are doing a great job, giving the place a thorough overhaul with redecoration, cleaning of existing seating, adding new seating and flooring, and updating the bar fixtures. The managers are friendly and the prices for Sam's products are excellent. Despite its small size and limited parking, it has become a nice, relaxed pub. It is the first of the Oakwell brewery sites to open and I highly recommend paying it a visit.

Good pub dug for a reasonable price, had the braising steak and enjoyed it. I have knocked off a star because it is only cash, even I take card payments in the middle of a field on tansley sunday market
