Bidra med feedbackMagnolia Farms French Press Brunch Magnolia Farms the overall ambience and decor of the restaurant feels like Joanna Gaines and Magnolia Farms. if you like the HDTV show and the aesthetic in their magazine, then you will love the overall fuel vibe of the restaurant. French Press Coffee: myself and a colleague ordered the French press coffee for two which should be a French press coffee for one that has 2 cups. The coffee was delicious but the portion we thought was gonna be a little bit bigger so if you plan on having 2 cups of coffee, just get the press coffee for two for yourself. Brunch overall this place has a great brunch five to it. We went on a Sunday morning around 9 AM. The menu is only about a third when you go that early you have to wait till 11 AM to get the full menu therefore highly recommend you put in a reservation for a little bit later if you want to get a solid brunch. Pro tip: tons of parking. Pro tip: this spot is very popular on the weekends. Therefore, you should put in for a reservation.
The restaurant is quite decent. The only place we really eat on this side of town. My go to is definitely their boom town pasta. If they ever got rid of this dish I dont see a reason to come here lol also adding the fried chicken is an amazing choice. It has a light crispy batter and juicy on the inside. They have a wide selection of cocktails and some NA drinks as well. They take reservations but if you have more than 4 people you have to call, you can't do it online which I find a little annoying. Service is usually pretty steady. They have water glasses on the table so you refill your own water. Their menu is kind of selective. They have things like cauliflower tacos, fish and chips, filet mignon, butter burger, and and a few seafood choices. Sundays they do prime rib. They also have some tapas, the mushroom ajillo is very good. I didnt really care for the polenta fries.
Our last full day in Anchorage we stopped by South Restaurant for lunch and I couldn't have had a better parting lunch. We were warned it could be busy and we may have to wait by the family who recommended South Restaurant, but we were immediately greeted and seated for lunch. Indeed it was busy and I think we got lucky. I was charmed with the space finding my eyes drifting over everything. It had a fun aesthetic with many details from the flooring transitions to the cross beams installed for the light fixtures. I loved the wall art, I loved the booth like tables separated by high white walls looking like little cubbies. It had a cafe vibe. Then I noticed the mini rubber duckies hidden here and there. These were bright and colorful and too many to be coincidental finding them on various fixtures hanging from the ceiling. It was very comfortable. The drinks were stellar. Being a fan of Empress Gin I ordered the Empress and was highly impressed. It was refreshing, light, and delicious. Being on a French dip kick this trip I ordered French Dip minus onions and thought it was great. The roll was substantial but not overpowering. The meat tender. The perfect amount of cheese and horseradish sour cream kicked it up a notch. It was an awesome meal. Our service was equally delightful. Despite how busy it was she had impeccable timing never leaving us wanting for drinks. She checked in with us after we received our food and closed us out promptly. She had great recommendations, a charming demeanor, and a welcoming presence. My small group was very pleased.
While brunch is always delightful, I love that South has healthier options, like steel cut oats, rather than just brunch fare that necessitates a nap.
2.5 's because this place is soo overrated. The service is always sub-par. (Besides this one sweet lady server with the curly hair and peppy attitude) and other than that I 've spent so much time waiting around at this restaurant. For a table, for food, and for service. Just eh. I 'm so turned off by this place bc I literally have a bad experience everytime I go. I 've been about a dozen times. Oh and not to mention one time the bartender was exceedingly rude to me when I was pregnant and didn 't want to sit at the bar to be served, he got offended and make super snaky comments to me. Ehhh yeah. Whenever someone recommends going to South my answer is pass. The food is good though, but everything else
