Bidra med feedbackAfter reading the recent mixed reviews we weren't sure what to expect. We'd found this place through the Entertainment book while looking for a mid-week suburban "date night" place and what a very pleasant surprise. The food was simple yet stunning, from the warm and more-ish sour-dough bread to our duck rillette entree, and both our mains - the lamb shanks was perfect for a winter's night and the prawn linguine was light yet with layers of beautiful flavours. We finished off with a faultless sticky date pudding. Well-priced with a very cute and warm ambience, we've found a new favourite and will be back!
We went to the Bistro after couple of months. We ordered 3 course meal. Both of us enjoyed the food.
Before the new owners took over, Booth Street Bistro was a bit of a special occasion place. Not exactly ARIA, or Bennelong, but definitely a destination you'd look forward to. Now it's just an awful run-of-the-mill cafe, with bad service and even badder food. The fact that it's doing Groupon Deals suggests things are not going well. Warning: Don't order the pumpkin gnocchi. Or anything else for that matter.
White tablecloths and good glassware, bottom-friendly booths and a smart bar create a sense of event and a measure of ease in this cosy, modern diner. The menu based on a seasonal selection that focuses on small producers. Freshly socked oysters with chicken pate, venison carpaccio, & scallops are very testy & present well. The Duck leg is transformed into a fine confit and presented with cinnamon, orange-scented red cabbage. Roasted Lamb & Crispy Skin Barramundi with french style lentil is perfect for winter. Warm Sticky date Pudding & hot chocolate fondant were outstanding. Friendly waiters, a neat wine list, a comfortable atmosphere and top-notch produce add up to a good, all-round neighbourhood bistro.
Shared s meal with my wife and friends here tonight. The service was average at best, yet still light years ahead of the food. Scallops over cooked and the size of t cent coins. Over cooked steak and duck. Linguine with chilli that blew peoples face off. Creme brulee best described as soup. I struggle to understand why a chessboard or gnocchi are unavailable... clearly potatoes have gone missing. At least the host was gracious, yet one of the worst meals I've parted money for...
