Bidra med feedbackIf you want a plate of food that will make you start shaking your head as soon as you take a bite contemplating if you wanna smack your mama it’s so good then come to half shell. I’ve been once a year the past two years and each year it gets better. The food is presented so beautifully and taste like a piece of heaven. Y’all don’t think twice you won’t be disappointed.
We ate an early dinner at the Half Shell Dockside restaurant. I got the blackened grouper sandwich and a order of cheese curds. The fish was fresh, and cooked to perfection. I definitely reccomend giving this place a try. The staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. Love the Dockside views, and they also have live music most nights.
Great fpod and extra attentive waitress. Had the grouper tacos. Good toppings. Not my favorite type of coeslaw but still ok. Wife had fettuccine alfredo and it was a generous portion. Wonderful they had Tabasco on the table. We sat river side and watched the boats and birds. Fun tome!
No pics of food unfortunately. We had Shrimp Gumbo which was decent. It was missing the File' spice flavor, was made with the tiny frozen shrimp, but would order it again. It had a great base and was a good portion. For dinner; the shrimp basket with cheese grits and the crabcake dinner with coleslaw and cheese grits. Shrimp were good size and although a little overcooked, I mean, just a little, very tasty. The grits were not creamy or cheesy enough. The crabcakes were made well with claw meat and had large chunks of red pepper. They were good, although they were ball like and not flattened out any. I feel they would cook better if not such big balls. The texture and flavor was good. The slaw was not considered good and was not eaten. We sat indoors but the door to the outdoor bar area was open. Their was conflict with the indoor music and the outdoor live music which made having dinner conversation difficult. It was hard to hear what people were saying with the two battling music sources. We will definitely give it another try as it's a beautiful setting and the food was good.
The service was fast and polite, but food was so phenomenal it would be worth the money even with bad service. The peel and eat shrimp was cooked perfectly. The best of all was the fried grouper.
