Bidra med feedbackWe ate (2 couples on a visit to Arles) on two occasions in l'Affenage. Excellent food, first class friendly service and an interesting ambience in what appeared to be an old farm building, though close to the town centre. My partner and I had the foie de veau which was delicious. On the second evening I had the tuna, also first rate. A wide variety if starters also. For dessert the tarte tatin was outstanding . Overall very good value indeed. We will go back when next in Arles!
Disappointed. Greasy food. Main meal arrived partially frozen. We were charged for desserts that never arrived. Host only interested in looking after his friends. Don’t waste your time or your money.
Super friendly service. Very efficient. Ordered the €24 menu. So much food! Started with raviolis and a burrata and heirloom tomato salad. Raviolis were simple with a creamy pesto sauce. Tomatoes were flavorful. Special rotisserie chicken with morel mushrooms and roasted potatoes was excellent. Bull stew was very hearty. Only had room to split one dessert. Only downside was that we had to sit inside and it was a bit warm. But we hadn’t made reservations, so we were ok with it.
The food was good, service was ok but there is no wine list and the waitress lists some wines in french without specifying the price…the result? I chose the first one and it was 90€. It’s probably my bad not asking for more information but it’s a common rule to be clear with the prices (especially for tourists)
I love to BBQ at home and had a great view of the grill. Another male patron did the same and smiled at me (must be that secret BBQ love). Well if you are into meat, and want to try the regional bull bourguignon, this place rocks. You can choose from two set meals: 24/32 €. We went with the cheaper that includes an appetizer, main and dessert. To be honest, we are not big eaters and this crossed the comfort zone. The food is fantastic. Don’t get me wrong. If you are a big eater this is your place. My wife had the ravioli and it was fantastic; I had the eggplant flan with beignets and a salad. These were the appetizers and we could have stopped there. But the bull bourguignon was amazing. Served with regional rice and fresh herbs, it was a meal for two! But my wife had the tuna served with a bowl of potatoes. Almost for two. Fantastic as well! And dessert. We chose the pana cotta that was amazing (and huge). Don’t get me wrong, we would go back in a heart beat but would share everything. As noted in other reviews, English is not spoken much, but this is France. We found the service very good and very efficient. The ambience inside is like an old country inn. Very warm and inviting. What brought us in was the full patio. Always a great sign.
