Las Catrinas Mexican Eatery - Astoria

This is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Astoria. My usual order includes Nachos Las Catrinas (homemade tortilla chips, cheese, beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, pickled jalapenos), a Nopal taco (cactus, cilantro, onion, radish, queso fresco cheese), a Hongos taco (crimini, oyster, and shiitake mushrooms, onion, pico de gallo), and a Huitlacoche quesadilla (huitlacoche mushroom, zucchini, epazote herb, quesillo cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo). Everything is incredibly fresh and made by hand. The tortillas are wonderfully soft.

We had plans to go out with friends today, just to chat, drink, and grab something to eat. As we were on our way, I spotted this place that immediately caught my eye. I love sitting outside, so we decided to give it a try. Our waiter was very friendly and understood that we were just stopping by for a drink before meeting up with our other friends at a different place. He was very helpful in taking our order. My friend ordered a Margarita while I opted for a Mezcal cocktail with a tamarind flavor, which was delicious. My drink even came with a flaming effect! The prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality of the drinks. The place was busy, even for a Tuesday, and the music was just the right volume, not too loud. We'll definitely be back to try the food next time!

Love the vibe! We sat outdoors, that was a tent area from the interior. So it was warm enough to enjoy my cold Sangria. Their red Sangria actually tasted like “homemade Sangria” unlike some other Sangrias that taste like chilled red wine with some fruits in them. I also know they give you a complete glass. My friend got “Your Mule” with Mezcal, and it was quite strong, but had a good balance. Strongly recommend their nachos! It comes in a hot plate with full wrinkles above. Servers were very friendly and friendly, reviewing with us regularly and still thoughtful enough to not disturb us. I definitely go back for a rotten romantic night!

We stumbled over this underestimated establishment and it was better than we imagined. The keviche was refreshing, delicious and original. The birria burrito and tacos were nothing shorty of culinary perfection. Will come back as a rule.
