Bidra med feedbackI had dinner and breakfast at this restaurant while staying at the Sheraton. Despite the French name, they offered a Goan fish curry that I decided to try. Unfortunately, it was not authentic Goan cuisine, but rather a slightly spicy tomato gravy. I experienced stomach issues after eating, so I'm unsure if it was a stomach virus or the food itself. The breakfast was a standard 3/5 star affair.
We had a pleasant breakfast experience with a variety of options to choose from and found the staff, especially Daniela, to be very helpful. However, our dinner experience was less than satisfactory. The room was chilly, the courses were rushed, and there was no bread offered for the table. The goats cheese souffle was disappointing, resembling a rubbery quiche. While the braised beef was enjoyable, the vegetables were bland and served in soggy cabbage leaves that emitted a foul odor. We were surprised to learn that the bottled water we had assumed was tap water came with a charge. Additionally, the waitress failed to offer a wine tasting and instead poured full glasses for everyone. Despite reserving a table for six back in February as part of a package deal, the manager initially claimed there was no booking for us upon arrival, which we found puzzling given the availability of empty tables.
I started with the soup which was mouthwateringly delicious, followed by a perfectly cooked steak and a lovely dessert. Afterward, I enjoyed coffee and then headed to the bar for cocktails. The service was very professional and quick, with no fuss.
Excellent food with quick and efficient service and surprisingly low prices for the quality means a must have experience when in Athlone especially if staying at the excellent Sheraton hotel.
Delicious food on a varied lenghty menu. Fast, friendly, efficient service from Jessica. A wonderful experience!
