Bidra med feedbackI had the best brunch at Blackbird. We shared several entrees and all of the food was delicious and large portions. We had the smoked salmon, chicken florentine, soufflé, and the cheesecake waffles. The staff was attentive and the restaurant was busy. The restaurant is great! I plan to return soon.
I ordered the creole tagliatelle shrimp pasta. Everything about this dish was perfect. The ambiance is amazing in this cozy loft, chef Matthew is most likely the coolest person on earth and Jared is one of the best servers I've ever had. Prices are very reasonable. This was such a memorable experience and I will definitely be back soon. Thanks guys
All I can say about this place is wow! We would have never gone into this location if it wasn't for their server Jared. We came into town Friday and happen to walk by the restaurant while Jared was outside handing out menus. We promised we would be back Saturday to eat dinner. Thinking they opened at 4 for dinner we showed up and even though they didn't open till 5, they went ahead and served us. We had the pork belly, as well as scallops 3 ways for starters, it was amazing. For the entree I ordered the rabbit, wife ordered the pollo saporito and my son ordered the trout. My son took one bite of my rabbit dish and had to have it instead of his trout. First time he had ever tried it. I was able to try the rabbit and it was tender and flavorful. All the dishes were perfectly seasoned. For dessert, we had the apple caramel cheesecake which was like an apple pie and cheesecake in one. My wife had the banana poke cake. Both were absolutely delicious. After dinner, Chef Matthew sat down with us where he shared his culinary background. An amazing story and a lot of vision from such a young chef. He is going to go Far and will definitely be a great influence in downtown Atlanta. We will be back tomorrow for brunch and dinner. The staff from his line chef and servers were the best I had ever had. Can't wait to be back tomorrow.
We visited Blackbird on a Sunday morning as out of town guests. It was a short walk from our hotel and right behind the aquarium. When we arrived at 10:30, there was only one other table of diners. We were seated right away, our server was very helpful, and we both decided to get the chicken and waffles. Portion size was perfect and I am obsessed with their tea brined fried chicken. I'm going to try to recreate it back home!
The Chef, Matthew, came over to say hello and asked about my food preferences. When I mentioned I was vegan, he expressed his interest in preparing something special for me, which I absolutely loved! He asked me about my favorite vegetables and then went to work. When he returned, he presented me with an incredible dish of house-made vegan pasta, overflowing with my favorite veggies and garlic, which I adore! When Queen Sheba arrived and saw my meal, she was so impressed that she ordered the same thing. It was that good! I truly believe everyone should visit to experience Chef Matthew's cooking and his wonderfully friendly demeanor. He’s genuinely humble. Now, about the open mic poetry, which was the reason I came: to be honest, I was pretty nervous! Sharing my spoken word at an open mic night is a new venture for me, and I'm quite shy. However, I felt immediately welcomed and at home! Poets from Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Toronto, and even Russia shared their work, and I left feeling inspired to return! Tonight, I shared four poems, and it was an amazing experience. Is it next Sunday yet? Sunday nights at Black Bird ATL are dedicated to spoken word poetry open mic events, and I can't wait to go back!
