Downwind Lounge - Atlanta

We arrived on a Thursday night as a large family group (three couples) with toddlers and babies. We were seated promptly in the main dining section. The children loved pointing out the model planes suspended from the ceiling. Service was terrific and very kid-friendly. All were pleased with their order including the appetizers. Highly recommend this restaurant as a unique, relaxed, and entertaining dining experience next to the PDK runway. Keep in mind that Friday nights are reserved for adults only.

Atmosphere was great. Server was nice and attentive. Food was good. Great place for kids as they can spend the meal time watching planes land and take off. Cute playground right outside. Blackened Mahi Mahi tasted fishy but nothing too terrible. Broccoli was fresh and the mashed potatoes was good. Hubby enjoyed his salmon salad. Kids grilled cheese looked rushed as part of the cheese wasn’t melted but daughter didn’t complain. Fries were crunchy! Would recommend!

I have been coming to Downwind for years. Don’t let the old ambiance fool you. The food is fantastic and view of the runway is even better! I ordered the blackened grouper since it was one of the specials. It was delicious.

This charming little restaurant is situated at DeKalb County Airport, making it conveniently located for many office workers. It’s an excellent spot for team meetings or gatherings. The atmosphere is fantastic, with the opportunity to watch planes taxi and take off, adding to the experience. The service is attentive, and the food is well-prepared and delicious, featuring a diverse menu. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to relax and socialize with colleagues and friends.

We arrived early on a Saturday with five adults and five children under four years old. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating to our little ones, seating us where the kids could watch the planes fly by without disturbing other diners. This family-owned restaurant served delicious food at reasonable prices. I highly recommend the Gyro or Cheeseburger with the potato salad. There's also a playground and observation deck right next door, which our kids thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, it was the perfect spot for a casual and tasty meal with toddlers. We will definitely make the drive from Marietta to come back. Additionally, they have a child-free night on Fridays for those looking for a more adult experience.
