Freedmen's - Austin

In the evening, some of the Freedman's signature dishes were gone. Wonderful food, big veranda. Anyway, it's worth going back.

Visit our children who have recently moved to Austin. We wanted Brunch, they wanted Bar (I wanted grill). I have everything, plus a worthy friendly father. The food was extraordinary. The bride is a masterpiece! The drinks are great! The service grandios! The desserts a miracle!!!! Long live Freedmen's!

There is a good grill in this city and there is a large barbecue in this city. Freedmen's is definitely in the last category. I understand that I don't want to go for mediocre BBQ if there are some very good opportunities in the city. What I don't understand is why someone would wait in a 3 hour line if the food at Freedmen is just as good (real, better, in my opinion) as the other place that starts with an F. Sides in BBQ restaurants are not usually my favorite, but anyone who even far likes beet will be blown away from the roasted beets with gruyere cheese. The German potatoes are also much more tasteful than your typical potato salad. The bride has an amazing crust and is super delicate. The ribs (both pork and beef) fall directly from the bone.

We are from australia and have been touring the southern states for 5 weeks. We were given a recommendation by family I'm Australia who knew a blogger in the states. We booked online for six people for 7pm dinner. We arrived on time and were shown straight to our table by attentive staff. They advised that some small items were not available but that didn't deter us and we duly ordered brisket, ribs, pulled pork dishes and various accompaniments. All the food arrived in a short while and was excellent. The waiter,Garrett, was excellent and was very prompt and had an excellent knowledge of all food and drinks. We had a great time and cannot speak highly enough of the place. It was the best food and service we had on our entire trip!
