At The Crown Inn - Babergh

We had a wonderful Christmas lunch at the Crown. The turkey with all the trimmings was amazing, the Christmas pudding delicious, and the lemon cheesecake delightful. The hotel was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees and had roaring log fires, creating a lovely atmosphere. The restaurant was busy and the staff worked exceptionally hard. The food was fantastic, but the real highlight of this lovely hotel restaurant was the staff. Congratulations to everyone for providing excellent service, and Merry Christmas to all.

We dined at the spacious, well-ventilated, pet-friendly bar on two occasions and both were very enjoyable. The servings were generous and of high quality, and a slightly undercooked steak was promptly replaced without any issues. The pork belly in Thai broth was exceptionally delicious, although the addition of a poached egg to the dish seemed unnecessary. We were disappointed to find that they had run out of Sunday roasts when we arrived at 3:00 pm, but we had been warned about this the day before. It does make you wonder why they did not prepare more in advance. The restaurant offers a good variety of beers and wines, as well as a diverse menu that caters to most tastes. The pleasant garden area is unfortunately affected by cooking smells from the nearby kitchen vents. Overall, we recommend this restaurant, but suggest arriving early if you have your heart set on a Sunday roast.

My partner and I were hoping to have a great meal, but unfortunately, this is a restaurant I would not recommend. The bread was stale and it was clear that little effort goes into preparing and presenting the dishes. The staff may have been friendly and fast, but the food fell short of expectations.

We were in the two story buildings behind the pub itself. very clean and bright room, although the bed was somewhat unpleasant. very nice rain shower in the bathroom. both dinner and breakfast were very nice and well cooked. service also good. real ale that we. and beautiful pub atmosphere. recommend a friendly pub.
