Pau's Asian Kitchen - Bainbridge Island

I was hesitant after reading the reviews, but I decided to give Pau's a try tonight. We ordered potstickers, Kung Pao chicken, and house chow fun. The potstickers were decent, though a bit tough around the edges. Since we ate them about 30 minutes post-cooking, I won't hold that against them. The flavors were good. The Kung Pao chicken was excellent. I noticed some complaints about the meat's texture, but perhaps people aren't familiar with velveted chicken? This is the proper preparation for this style of cuisine, and it turned out tender and well-cooked. The vegetables were also cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of spice—not overly seasoned. My wife enjoyed the house chow fun and had no complaints. Every restaurant can have an off night, and those with negative experiences are often more vocal in reviews. Overall, I found the Chinese-American food here to be very well executed, and I'm glad we gave it a chance. The prices may seem a bit high, but there's definitely enough food for two dinners. We will definitely return.

I visited this restaurant for the first time (and definitely the last) and was taken aback when my bill was $48 for two entrees and an appetizer, including a 15% tip that wasn't warranted. I ordered shrimp chow mein, which was decent — the only reason I’m giving them a star. However, the potstickers turned out to be gyozas, and they were hard and dry, as if they had been frozen and overcooked in the microwave — definitely not fresh. Then, there was the Kung Pao chicken, which was just awful! The chicken was soft, chewy, and had a pink hue, making it completely inedible. We had no choice but to throw it out, which felt like a waste of money. If I didn’t live 25 minutes away in Kingston, I would have returned to ask for a refund. Lesson learned.

This is the best Chinese food on the island. The Ma Po tofu is excellent, and the Mongolian beef is fantastic as well.

I ordered the ma po tofu, extra spicy, with the peppercorn for the mala flavor. It was phenomenal! I can?t believe this dish was sitting right here on Bainbridge and i didn?t know! My loss.

Food was very good also great boba drinks definitely will return. Fast service dining in.
