Bunch of Grapes Hotel - Ballarat

All the old world charm has been removed from this pub leaving you sitting in an austere environment resembling a COVID waiting room. Everything is painted black. Service was friendly but slow and meals were delivered to our table of two almost 10 minutes apart. On the flip side, the food was delicious and well priced. We wouldn’t go back.

Start from the start… the staff I dealt with over the phone during booking and a change of time were professional but fun to deal with!!! There was parking available out front upon our arrival at 7pm on a Friday night. The decor is warm and inviting. We ordered their cheesy garlic rosemary pizza with prosciutto between 4 of us which was delicious. The base was beautiful and has me interested in ordering one of their pizzas next visit. The waiting staff were able to offer suggestions around our selections as we all had trouble choosing!!!! Orders are taken at the bar. Meals were relatively prompt considering they had two large groups in ahead of us. We ordered Porterhouse, Eye Fillet, Spudarama Parma, and House Made Chicken Kiev. Presentation was pleasing, and the meals including accompanying veges salads were mouth-watering. The friend having the porterhouse claimed it to be the best he’s ever had, asking our waitress to please pass on his sincere thanks to the kitchen staff!!!! Best indication of enjoyment was not one morsel left on anyone’s plate and we were all comfortably full.

Great menu. The service was great friendly efficient. The food was delicious, nicest Chicken Kiev I’ve had in a long time, the veggies were freshly cooked. Chips were hot and crispy.Im glad we we didn’t like were the shiny silver chairs, they looked very slippery to sit in and not very comfortable.

We had been driving around house hunting stopped here to use the conveniences. We ended up having a drink and a bowl of chips. We were impressed with the friendly staff fast service. We really enjoyed the chips they were great! And the drinks weren't bad either! Next time we're in the area, we'll call in again (for a meal that is).

The meal and service was first class- great atmosphere and reasonable prices. Loved their fish menu and my wife as a Vegy (that is vegetarian) had a great selection as well. A friend who complains no matter where we go was impressed as well. So it must be good. Will definately go again.
