Bidra med feedbackWe ate here twice on a recent stay and on both nights had good meals. Not a large place so you are reasonably close to fellow diners and on our first night we had a lady whose voice took over the room, however not the restaurant's fault, just someone with no consideration for others. On both nights I had the chowder as a starter and it was excellent on both occasions despite some other reviews contradicting this opinion. Staff were really good and friendly and you didn't feel rushed. Hake was also very good.
It’s a few years since our last visit our return was not of my choosing but considered worth a try for a family meal on Sunday afternoon. The bread that was served at the beginning and the kids ice cream at the end were great. The rest was poor quality, small in quantity and overpriced. Service was slow and less than helpful. No return for us.
I was disappointed that we couldn't dine or tour Ashford Castle during our stay at the Lodge. However, we did enjoy drinks and dinner at the Quay at the Lodge. They have a nice selection of food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere, with very good service.
The best ever chowder soup i have ever eaten in any restaurant.around the world .the beef stew faithfulness was also faultless with creamy mash.very comforting on a blustery day. The fire was a nice touch. The table settings were basic but it s a pub in the end
Set in a beautiful venue we were expecting a lovely meal but were disappointed each time. Firstly the couch in front of the fire is torn, dirty and it smells ....... not a great first impression of the restaurant. Service is very slow and disjointed but as we were on holidays this didn’t bother us too much. Salmon dish was €18 which was overpriced for the portion served. Puddleducks in the village do a larger portion served with chips for €8 while I don’t expect the same value in a hotel they should be aware of what the competition is offering. Burger and fish and chips were pretty average certainly not ‘delicious’. Caesar salad was very disappointing. It wasn’t all bad, the fillet steak was very good however at €30 I would expect a serving of veg on the side. We did order chips but they didn’t arrive until we finished our meal .... they were delicious to be fair! Best part of each meal was the crumble ..... I hope it isn’t bought in. There are several excellent more reasonable dining options nearby. I would suggest sending the staff to Flannerys of the Pyramid where we enjoyed meals of a higher standard than at the Quay. Better staff training and management required as there was plenty of grumbling from tables nearby.
