Bidra med feedbackAfter hearing about the unspoiled beauty and stunning scenery of Donegal, we decided last minute to stay in the area. We were not disappointed. The surroundings and locals were incredibly friendly, making the long drive more than worth it. Our host, Dave, was exceptionally welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The cozy turf fire, thoughtful welcome hamper, and milk in the fridge for tea were unexpected and greatly appreciated. The house was spacious and tastefully decorated, with four generously sized bedrooms. The only downside was that the location was a bit far for my liking, and I wish we could have stayed longer. I definitely plan to return in the near future.
This restaurant is a beautiful place to visit with so much to explore. The views are amazing and there is a fantastic walking area along the beach. We had a great time exploring the sea caves and driving along the coast. It was a fabulous day out.
This restaurant is a wonderful discovery. The menu is amazing and the food is delicious. The early bird specials offer excellent value with generous portions that are perfectly seasoned. The restaurant is cozy and roomy, with attentive and friendly staff.
Anyone travelling to this area its a must for foodies. We regularly visit high quality Indian Restaurants in the rest of Ireland and the UK an this little gem is up there with the best. Its very unassuming and you could pass it easily without noticing it and we nearly did. Last weekend our guest house owner recommended it on the basis of other clients opinions without having visited herself and we took a chance. What a surprise that in so remote an area we could fine such high quality authentic indian food. All the food was freshly made and served with a smile. Wine was reasonably priced at €17.50 a bottle if you wanted it but we went for the traditional Singha beer. Food was spicy and tasty without being over powering and the host was very interested in us as guests e.g. asking us where we were from etc. If you do go the chilli chicken tikka masala is excellent as was the garlic naan bread. If your in the area definitely give Shalimar your custom as its excellent and should be supported. Another examples of its greatness was the price of €34 for our meal and the fact that the takeaway was busy all night.
On a lovely day this area is simply stunning in natural beauty. Miles of fabulous pristine sandy beaches and rugged mountain landscapes. An Irish language area it offers a multitude of good local pubs and restaurants in traditional uncrowded Irish surroundings.
