Marina Cafe & Bar - Balmain

After walking around Cockatoo Island, this cafe has a good outdoor area with views of Balmain and the water - also good for watching planes using the main runway. He menu is limited and expensive but the food's not bad and they have alcohol.

We visited Cockatoo Island on the weekend and found the Marina Cafe the best place to stop for a bite to eat (and cheeky drink) on the island. We were able to sit down and enjoy our food whilst the kids rode their scooters on the Tarmac right next to the cafe without interrupting any of the guests, win for us and the kids!! Look forward to coming back again to try the new breakfast menu and a Toby's Estate coffee.

This cafe and bar is located on fascinating Cockatoo Island - we found it a really nice casual place for lunch on a beautiful day.

Stopped here with the kids on our day exploring Cockatoo Island and it fitted the bill perfectly. Staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful and although the menu was not extensive what we had was really tasty (nachos and pork wrap). Kids loved the ice creams and a couple of beers for my wife and I went down a treat. There's a little boat the kids can play in and the vintage caravan was very cool. Would love to see that open sometime.

After we reached the other end of the island by 2pm we decided to have our lunch. There are two restaurants on this island but we decided to have from here as it was close to us. Most of the items were sold out by then. Remember it was a sunday and the restaurant was not full. I wonder how they sold out most of the items in their menu. The only left over item was pizzas. Out of the 3 available options we opted for cockatoo pizza assuming that it might be something special and related to the island. But to our surprise it was the worst pizza I ever had. The pizza was not baked and I felt like eating raw dough. We had to leave it without eating. We could see many such pizzas on other tables left over by other customers. I suggest you to bring your own food when visiting the island. Not sure about the food in other restaurant.
