Bidra med feedbackI asked my younger daughter if there happened to be a Chinese style restaurant in Barrie that had quality flavours and not the typical wide variety with one taste! She ummed and ahhed and finally remembered a place called Dragon Wok, but had no experience and was a little concerned about my opinion!I pushed gently, resulting in a positive agreement that we should try it out! I had to use my navigator to locate the place, which seemed to be void of customers! I wondered… but hunger caused a positive move! We parked and walked in. The smells were very appetising and there were actually one of two people already eating quietly in a couple of booths. We found a booth close to the buffet which we inspected prior to filling our plates. It looked OK and the smells were distinctively different for each separate dish… a good start. I have to have a special diet, but my trip to Lakewood Ohio, to my elder daughter's place, and being with my younger daughter who is also a very good cook, has rather destroyed my resolve to remain under doctor's rules. What the heck… I can only die once! Cn't I?I filled up with many variations on chicken, with Ah Choy (Chinese for bean sprouts), some rather tasty special fried rice (I am only supposed to eat black rice [which is also very flavourful] and veggies like broccoli, carrots, onions, etc and 2 chips (that''s French Fries for you North American colonials) and I mean 2! There was a no more room on the plate!Having depleted that load and feeling a little distended round the middle, I waited for my skinny offspring to return with her 2nd load and devour it, before my own trip to try that which I had not been able to balance on my plate the first time round! We had also struck up a sort of 4-way conversation with one customer and the waitress, whose name is Rose, about the restaurant, its age and from whence it had come. Rose was very cheerful, highly attentive, which is unusual for a buffet type environment, and very cheerful and had a sunny outlook. An excellent ambassador for the restaurant. Rose might have been more attentive because we involved her in our conversation, to which she readily engaged in. I liked her.Once more, desert was not within my capacity to absorb, but needless to say, Kristian managed a dessert trip AND finished it!The price for all this was astonishingly low, particularly considering the flavours and varieties of dishes, kept fresh and hot (except the cold dishes!!!).All-in-all, another rather delightful (not posh, but down-to-earth) eating place that should have been shouting from the rooftops! Do go and try it if you happen to be in Barrie, Ontario!Lovely experience - even my daughter agrees!
Started going to this place after the other local place made us sick two times in a row! Menu is good, and really good turn around...for take away anyway...delivery is VERY slow.Front line staff a little abrupt at times, but it is pretty busy. The portions are HUGE...dinner for 3 serves our family of 6 easily! One bit of feedback: use less sauce in your dishes...they're practically swimming in it!
Order take out from here this evening and our order arrived incorrect. I called to rectify this and they said there was a misunderstanding. They then proceeded to tell me that I would need to place a new order for the missing order. I said I would pay for the food but not for the deliver and he refused to do that given the fact that it was their mistake. Do not go order from this restaurant. They do not care about their customers. Tonight will be the last time I order from here. Terrible customer service. Looks like I will be ordering the missing food from a different Chinese establishment tonight. Dragon Wok will not see another cent from me.
Tried the Dragon Wok Cundles on a friend's recommendation. The food was delivered hot, fresh, and on time! The menu was a little different than what I was used to for Canadian-Chinese fast food but it was tasty. My only complaint is the rice being riddled with frozen mixed veggies (peas n carrots). I just don't get it.Service was friendly. As mentioned, we got delivery, so I can't speak for the restaurant's interior.
Like the two reviews previous to mine, I also thought this place was terrible! I had the general tao chicken, I got sucked into the cheap lunch special for $5. It was so very slimy and the sauce wasnt the least bit spicy OR flavourful, not even sure if it could be considered a general tao sauce! The meat was 50% gristle, 50% breading and what little chicken was there was dark meat! I am officially turned off chinese food for awhile until I feel brave enough to try somewhere new! There were quite a few people eating the lunch special, so maybe they knew something better on the menu? Wish they would have told me!
