Cafe Du Theatre - Bayonne

Very good restaurant. Excellent reception. Excellent kitchen. Very good value quality price. If the vs pass through Bayonne a very good address.

A magnificent setting in front of the Nive with a concert in the evening that puts a great atmosphere. The big guy deserves his name. You have to take it if you're really hungry. This one is really good. The tartar was very seasoned, too much for me, but it's just my taste of perso. The service was of quality with little waiting between each dish. On the other hand, tables on the outside are a little too small but this does not affect the quality of the meal. I recommend this restaurant.

An easy, welcoming atmosphere, in the middle of Bayonne. Popular with the locals, and for good reason we had an excellent meal, served promptly, while waiting for a taxi to Biarritz airport.

Though the décor was spare and not very inviting, a friendly waiter engaged us right away. We ordered an egg baked with the local specialty piperade to share, followed by a duck breast with piperade as well and an entrecôte with herb butter. He forgot the egg completely, and both of the second courses were fine but unremarkable. The waiter does get extra points for providing big crystal glasses for our St-Emilion and for decanting it, and the restaurant for being open on Sundays when most are closed.

So this is a cafe near the junction of the Bayonne Rivers, next to the Bayonne Theater. And there is a good menu that looks pretty good at first sight. But not everything is enjoyable there. The risotto lack of taste for one. The Duck Parmentier was so oily that you could grease you car with it and it was served in a small rounded plate on a plate that is not what you should use with so much fat. A pool of fat. But what I think is really bad is that they serve a burger without saying anywhere that there is bacon with it ! It's against french regulations and it's disrespectful for people with food restrictions, whatever the restriction is for philosophical or religious reasons ! I don't know if you can be allergic to bacon, but if that's possible, it's criminal to not indicate that there are some in this burger. The only good thing was the Bayonne ham (which is famous around the world) and the shrimp salad, but that's not that hard to do.
