Bidra med feedbackWhat great food you have. It was so hard for us to choose so I think we picked a little bit of everything.
I would come back for the ramen it's just how I like my ramen. Karaage fried chicken was tasty. Sauce was tasty. About as good or better than syun in Hillsboro. Rolls were pretty basic and expensive but man do they have a lot of people working here no wonder it's priced high. I think I would pick Syun in Hillsboro for sushi. I would come here for ramen again. Also like the ambience of syun in Hillsboro better but AFURI feels clean just the acoustics from all the smooth surfaces make it kind of noisy for my taste and not very intimate.
Vegetarian review I highly recommend Afuri for their ramen and the potato appetisers. But I'll break down rest of the review. Rolls we got the 3 vegetarian rolls avocado, umeshu and pickled daikon. All 3 rolls were very average not bad but nothing you won't find anywhere else. We also got the vegetarian dumplings some folks in my group loved the dumplings but another place where I thought they were kinda basic. The dumplings will not bring me back here I guess. We ordered this potato dish I don't remember the name. This was delicious! I loved the sauce, and he potatoes, the mushrooms, the asparagus. We ordered it again half way through the meal. Finally the vegetarian ramen this was quite good. Lots of veggies, and the broth was light and delicious. Another thing I would def order again. We got some garlic on the side which added more oomph to the flavour.
If I could give this place a ZERO I would! Horrible service! We walked in when they opened for dinner and they put us on a waitlist for 1.5 hours. We waited for 1.5 hours and were 1st on the waitlist, then walked back in to check the status of our wait time and then the hostess told us they will not serve us for the rest of the evening due to high amounts of reservations, after we already waited 1.5 hours. If this was the case, they should 've said that when we first walked in and put our name down for the waitlist or texted us to inform us earlier. They did not even offer us bar seating and after waiting for 1.5 hours, the reserved tables were still open. Waste of time since our family drove out of town to come to this restaurant! Very disappointed and we nor our family/friends will ever return here. This place is a joke! Don 't waste your time.
It was a late-ish dinner for us in Beaverton, and Afuri was about 90% full when we were seated. Our first time to this location and we were a bit stymied by the compact menu of ramen, sushi and grill items. Decided in the end to get a couple of grilled skewers and a cold ramen dish to split. The grilled items came relatively quickly. Tsukune was tender and not overdone. These came with a soy cured egg yolk dip. The overall effect was a bit on the salty side. I like my food well seasoned but this was a bit much. My eggplant skewer with a touch of grated ginger was very good. Then came a bunch of waiting around for the cold ramen. Apparently we were not alone in a long wait. The table next to us cancelled their order and walked out because of this. Eventually it did arrive, but the noodle texture was off. Cold noodles (I feel) should be well rinsed after cooking to both chill them thoroughly and remove excess starch. The noodles were both too warm and stuck in unpleasant-to-eat hard clumps. I considered mentioning it when we settled the bill, but at a certain point I just wanted to get out of there. There are a lot of solid restaurants choices in Beaverton now, and it is not likely we'll be back anytime soon. Not horrible, but also not worth the money.
