Turkish Adana Kebab House - BELCONNEN

My partner and I are regular customers at this restaurant. The food is delicious, especially the carrot dip, but we are becoming frustrated with the constant mistakes in our orders. The first time they forgot one of our main dishes, and since then, our orders have been incorrect multiple times. We usually order 'snack packs', but they have been delivered as kebabs instead. Additionally, the sauces on the snacks are often wrong, with mine sometimes being smothered in garlic sauce despite only ordering BBQ. I have even had to drive to a store to buy the correct sauce. It is a shame because the food is great and the location is convenient, but the continuous mistakes in our orders are incredibly irritating.

After attending early movie session we wanted a healthy delicious snack to eat before going home. Arrived at Turkish Adana restaurant/café at 8pm according to signage it trades till 10.30pm on Thursday. Only one other couple in the restaurant, décor is pleasant, kitchen is in view of diners. We ordered a share platter for 2 comprising 2 zucchini balls (KABAK) 2 falafel, 2 rice stuffed vine leaves and 2 Feta pastry rolls as well as 4 dips of our choice and Turkish bread. When you order a drink (soft ) the bottle is placed on the table and no offer of a glass to drink from. I asked if ginger Beer was amongst the range of soft drinks the owner thought I wanted alcohol. hmm! You are not given a list of available drinks as the drinks are situated in large fridges but you have to ask the waiter to make your selection. If you want alcohol it is BYO. The wait was quite long in that time another couple was seated and I noticed about 3 take away meals were cooked and picked up. The hommus lacked flavour I could not detect any garlic in it or the zing of any lemon and it was quite runny and sloppy as were the other 3 dips we chose, they comprised beetroot which in my opinion had good flavour and so too did the cucumber dip but as I say the dips were quite runny and sloppy on the plate, the other dip we chose was the carrot dip. The Turkish bread was cut into large cubes it was fresh and was a more than ample portion for us, we did not eat all of it. I liked the KABAK they were not stodgy and were quite light, however the FALAFEL was rock hard on the outside so much so that it took quite some effort to cut through with my knife, my husband even offered to cut it for me ugh! :( The Feta Pastry rolls were nice and light and the vine leaves not too bad. Is this the best Turkish in the Belconnen region - I don't believe so ?? Will have to visit again and sample other menu items. I have to admit I have definitely had better and one restaurant that springs to mind is located Southside of Canberra it is The Turkish Grill. The owner who was waiting on our table also neglected to follow-up with us to find out if we wanted to order any sweets or hot drinks to finish off our meal. As a matter of fact he "disappeared". When we were settling our bill the young man who had also been cooking started to charge us for a HUGE meal that belonged to the table next to us, my husband corrected this mistake, we departed whilst at the same time the owner was walking back into the restaurant. Were we impressed - NO! But I am prepared to try one more time. But as Chong and Co who are situated next to Adana was full of people dining it beggars belief as to why Turkish Adana Kebab House was soooo void of diners. I can guess why, some food items were delicious and some not, and service seems to be an issue. I think they put more effort into take-away orders.

This was a mixed experience - we were greeted quite warmly, and told to sit anywhere in a mostly empty indoor/outdoor setting. Our order was taken in good time but the wheels came off about then. We had ordered the small mezzo platter, and at the half hour mark, the waitress came out to say they were out of hummus.Now, for a Turkish restaurant... running out of hummus seems more than a bit odd. However, 10 minutes later, the platter arrived, but a forty minute wait in an almost empty restaurant?Our pide arrived shortly after, and was excellent - of not ENORMOUS! but a takeaway box was offered.I'm not sure what caused the delays, but hopefully that's not a chronic issue.

Walking past Adana I noticed a sign out the front for a kebab wrap, drink and chips for $13. I decided on the Lamb, all salads , tabouli , with hummus and chilli sauce. The kebab wrap was as thick as my forearm! By the time I had gotten through it I was full no room for the lovely looking cooked chips. I think I'll have to try a pide next time...

I used to love going here for dinner....not anymore...from the moment that my favourite meal is only half the size from what is used to be, I am out! The menu has changed, in particular the prices of the dishes. The lamb burger is missing on the menu
