Spice Route - Bellevue

Their all-you-can-eat buffet is delicious! Every time I dine here I'm impressed with the two full-length rows of food options. Lots of vegetarian, vegan options as well as meat dishes. Delicious flavors. It's Southern Indian so if you want more mild flavors go on the weekdays and the weekends tend to run more spicy! My hungry teenagers beg to come frequently.

The food here is fantastic, especially if you love South Indian cuisine. They serve the best dosa in the greater Seattle area! The naan is also excellent. While the vegetables taste great, the portion sizes are a bit smaller compared to other Indian restaurants. Still, it's a good value for the price. The service is pleasant, and the ambience is just okay.

Additionally, I found their policy on charging infants to be quite unreasonable. In all my experience dining out, this is the first time I've been charged half the buffet price for my infant, who only managed to eat one idly after quite a struggle. They should reconsider their pricing structure for children; otherwise, it might deter families from returning. On a positive note, the food was overall quite good. I particularly enjoyed the tandoori dishes, chicken mughlai, and gulab jamun from the buffet. However, the biryani could have been served hotter.

I ordered chicken tikka masala with rice for delivery. The spice level in the tikka masala was excellent—just right. However, it did have a lot of oil, with small pockets of oil visible throughout the sauce. The chicken was tender and moist, which I appreciated. The naan was quite plain, which I enjoy, but it was a bit chewy; this could be due to the delivery. Overall, it was reasonably priced, but I'm not sure if I would order from here again. I would give it 3.5 stars.

As a vegetarian family, we absolutely love this restaurant. We can enjoy all the dishes here without any hesitation. We've been coming here for about 10 years now. Whenever we accidentally try another Indian restaurant, I either end up with a severe headache or stomach pain. That has never happened with the food from Spice Route. We’re always happy to visit. The waitstaff is very humble and friendly. Thanks for reading!
