Bidra med feedbackExcept the tasty roasted chicken you can enjoy many other plates. My best is "trinken teller". A little spicy but really nice. Hausgemacht (home-made) beer. VFM
This is a really nice little restaurant serving big poertions of real German food at at very reasonable prices.I had the big skewer ( pork ) which was delicious. My fiend Neil had the crispy chicken which is basically a whole half of chicken deep fried ... this is there signature dish and is delicious and well worth a try.Beer is superb and all served the German way in branded glasses and is beautifully presented. This restaurant is a little gem and well worth a visit
We found this on our 1st night and we did enjoy our starters and main, and was too full for deserts.. The food was presented well and tasted lovely.. We enjoyed so much we went back again next night , different meal and tasted just as good.. Very reasonably priced, good measures on spirits.. Staff were very friendly place was very clean and cosy..
We found this restaurant by luck on our first night, and liked it so much we also went for the next 3 nights. The food was very reasonably priced and of a high standard, with nothing on the menu over 10 Euro.I had a different choice each night, and had Chicken in a Paprika Sauce,Braised Beef,Home Made Burgers, and a home made Beef & Pork Loaf all with salad and fresh vegetables. The staff were very friendly, and even remembered what we had been drinking on previous nights. We would certainly return at a future date.It is outside Berlin City Centre, but is only 10 minutes on the U-Bahn from Brandenburg Gate.
I'm confused by another reviewer's mention of Witwe Bolte being on a small alley - it is on the rather large Uhlandstrasse. Similarly it was suggested that Witwe Bolt is expensive - it's not. It is cozy, with dark wood paneling all about, and fairly basic in decor. Nothing fancy here. However if you order their house special chicken with special sauce you should not be disappointed. The chicken is fried - but comes so moist with such a light crisp coating you will find it hard to believe. It is nothing at all like the heavy breaded fried chicken you get in the American south or at, for example, KFC. It is served here with their "special sauce" which goes with it wonderfully well, and which we recognized immediately as Thai barbecue sauce. This is not a tourist restaurant, i think we were the only non-German speakers in the place. The sides are not the same world-class quality as the chicken, but acceptable. The same goes for the service.
