Black Forest Deli - Bethlehem

After our stay at the casino, my husband and I decided to have lunch before heading back to New York City. We came across a local restaurant and ordered several dishes. The borscht was surprisingly delicious, and my pelmeni were decent, but unfortunately, the pierogi filled with potato, bacon, and cheese were undercooked. When I kindly brought this to the attention of the owner who was also our server, she took my plate away and returned a few minutes later, insisting that she had tasted the pierogi herself and found them fully cooked. To my surprise, she showed me a bitten piece, but the dough was still raw inside. On top of that disappointment, when I inquired about the bathroom, I was informed that they didn't have one. I'm not sure if this is allowed in Bethlehem, PA, but it certainly left a negative impression. Overall, while some of the dishes had potential, the inconsistencies in food preparation and the absence of basic facilities like a restroom make it hard to recommend this restaurant.

The sweet farmer cheese pierogies were absolutely divine, and the hostess made us feel so welcome, inviting us to try more dishes and even offering us some sweets afterward. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and I truly felt like I was being well taken care of. I highly recommend you visit this place and support them. They offer a wide variety of pierogi flavors, sandwiches, and great deals. If you have the opportunity, don’t miss out! It’s hard to put into words the joy I felt while dining there. The women running this restaurant deserve applause for their hard work and friendliness. Don’t miss out on the best pierogies in town!

The food is acceptable, but I think food quality is just one aspect of the overall experience. I would advise caution regarding the owner—her business practices raise some concerns. She runs a small business networking group where she tries to recruit individuals from well-established companies for her own benefit, which I won't specify here. If you're thinking about engaging with her, I suggest you do so with great care; it likely won't be advantageous for you or your business, as her intentions seem to be self-serving. Many people have begun to recognize her tactics, but usually only after they have already devoted time to her.

Absolutely fantastic food! The service was incredibly friendly. The venegret was a delightful beginning, complemented by a tasty herring and onion dish. The rassolnik soup was a perfect 10/10. The sweet farmers cheese pierogis were simply heavenly. The staff were exceptionally welcoming. I highly recommend this place!

I had my first dining experience at Black Forest Deli, and it was great. The establishment was spotless, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious—slightly on the expensive side, but definitely worth it. I highly recommend giving it a try. I would certainly return for another meal!
