Dairy Deluxe - Birmingham

This has been my favorite for decades. Whenever I return to the area, I always stop by for the upside-down banana split. It’s truly the best!

Delicious, efficient, and an excellent menu! We sampled all the soft serve options within a 5-mile radius of Huntington Woods, and Dairy Deluxe was the clear champion. Their soft serve is perfectly creamy, with a slightly malty flavor, affordable prices, and a great consistency—neither too heavy nor too airy. The service is impressively fast; one window takes orders while the other serves them in under a minute. They have a very extensive menu featuring cones, flurries, sundaes, and sodas. My current favorite is a twist sundae with hot fudge and pecans, but you really can't go wrong with just a classic twist cone!

Don't expect to pay by card. I waited 30 minutes in line only to be told they don't accept cards. Why not put up a sign to avoid wasting people's time and ruining their night?
