Bidra med feedbackWe visit this restaurant several times a month, and the staff are some of the kindest people you'll ever meet! The chicken and broccoli dish is excellent, and my wife particularly enjoys the vegetable fried rice, while I’m a fan of the vegetable lo mein. Don't be discouraged by the customizable menu options; they’re open to accommodating your requests, even if the names of the dishes differ (for example, their version of General Tso's Chicken goes by a different name). The food is consistently served hot, though they sometimes forget to include utensils, so it's a good idea to ask for them. On the plus side, you'll get plenty of sauce and fortune cookies to enjoy. Their egg rolls are also fantastic. I highly recommend this place!
You might be surprised. This is a traditional Chinese restaurant. The food is good, the prices are reasonable, and there are some unique touches. You begin with tea, which is becoming less common nowadays. Then, they serve you some marinated cabbage and fried noodles. The rest of your meal depends on what you choose to order. I was a bit unsure about the place when we first arrived, but I ended up enjoying it. My father has been coming here for years and mentioned that the restaurant has changed a lot over the past 30 years, which I can believe. I think you'll notice all of this too.
I've been a regular at Hunan East for 40 years. My first visit was when they were located in the Laurel Plaza in Blackwood. They then moved to Deptford, near the Five Points Diner, and eventually to their current location. Their food is exceptional. We always order the Grandpa Chicken (General Tso's Chicken) and the five spice chicken with string beans, which are both fantastic.
I'm very picky, this place is old school. Love the wonton in the soup, very fresh and the best noodles as well, haven't seen this kind since Chinatown in NYC. Food is good, prices are great and the service too. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants old school Chinese dining. It's not fancy but clean .
I'd give 4 stars for their cheesesteak rolls, BUT I'd give 1 star for their chinese pizza (scallian pancakes)!!! I spent $2.95 plus tax (so over $3 for 4 small pieces that were bland not flavorful, very dry and just all around blah and not good) ; . I usually order from Bamboo Garden, Hunan East needs to try their chinese pizza to see what theirs really should taste like... very disappointing (also Bamboo Garden sauce for their pizza taste better too, lil sweeter).
