Sushi Yama Asian Bistro - Boca Raton

So many 5 star reviews I thought I’d try this place. Only reason I’m posting a review. I can not believe those reviews are from real ppl that have actually eaten at this place! Sushi was horrible, just loaded with rice and seaweed you just chew and chew and can’t swallow!!! Red curry with chicken was worse. If I could give zero stars I would. Food is awful! I mean awful. So many better places in area!

I have a love-hate relationship here. I’ve been when the service is great, and the food is wonderful. I’ve also been here when I sat at table for 20 minutes and was never even acknowledged and had to walk out. I’ve done take-out and again, sometimes it’s perfect and sometimes they leave out a few things.They do have a good lunch special, and I highly recommend the tuna sandwich which is spicy tuna layered between rice. In a strip mall. Large restaurant. We had miso soup. Then we shared Japanese pancakes. And the teriyaki seafood platter. Lots of food. A variety of flavors and textures. Our waiter was efficient but unfriendly.

Came in for lunch. The lunch specials here are great. Get a soup and 3 rolls for under 15$. (Also they don't charge for brown rice which is a bonus for me) Service was good, the food took a little longer than I'd want for lunch but it all came out correctly and was good. The place is a typical Asian restaurant which has booth and a some out door seating. Come here often for lunch because to me one of the best specials around for sushi!

Not sure what is going on with Sushi Yama lately. In the last two months, the raw fish (tuna, yellowtail and salmon) smell unpleasantly fishy and my stomach got sick after one bit of my sushi roll. On this one particular visit, I ordered the Red Dragon roll- the salmon was slimy and the crab inside smelled spoiled. Also ordered my usual-the Lobster bomb roll, it was cold and also smelled a little off. Not to mention, both orders took forever to bring out. Sushi Yama has been my go to for years. So disappointing.
