It's CLOSED. The same company that purchased and closed all the restaurants in Mount Holly Springs has acquired this one and shut it down as well.
I recently discovered that the owner behind this restaurant is the same person who purchased and eventually closed two other unique establishments in the Carlisle area: The Deer Lodge and The Mount Holly Inn. It’s unclear what issues he may have, but it seems he has no plans to reopen any of these places, which may actually benefit other nearby restaurants. I recommend trying 113 Social, owned by the former manager of Boiling Springs Tavern who has worked there for 20 years, or The Barn at Allenberry, which has recently brought in the chef and kitchen staff from Brick and significantly improved their menu. In the meantime, Yelp should mark this restaurant as Permanently Closed for now!
Take the historic Deer Lodge, for example; he bought it over ten years ago, and it still hasn't reopened. The Holly Inn, now renamed Mountain Creek Tavern—which shouldn't have had its name changed—was purchased almost three years ago and remains closed. It's truly disheartening that such beautiful historic buildings are bought by someone who seems to disregard their value. These are just a few of the places he has purchased and allowed to deteriorate. There are many more in the Mt. Holly and Boiling Springs areas. It's frustrating to witness these wonderful buildings fade away with time, taking with them exceptional restaurants and inns that should be thriving. We're losing pieces of history to a greedy individual who lacks any sense of responsibility. He needs to be held accountable.
I’m really sorry to learn that they’ve closed down. It seems like another casualty of COVID-19. The change in ownership a few years back was a much-needed reset, and it quickly became one of our favorite dining spots. My heart goes out to the owners; they seemed like genuinely nice people! I hope someone else will step in and buy this wonderful tavern so it can reopen!
