Bidra med feedbackBecause I ate one of the best dishes of my life here: Glacier 51 Patagonian toothfish. Miso marinated, perfectly cooked, fatly glistening on smoked mash. Ooooooohhhhhh, smoked mash is a revelation, I want to eat it with everything. There was a very generous scoop of tobiko and a salad of pickled daikon and shitake the whole dish as balanced and perfect as a dealer's scales.<br/ <br/ I was ignorant of what a fascinating fish the old G51PSJ is but I think it was handled with such respect and skill that I went to look it up after eating it. Bravo.
Fantastic little spot for a long lunch. Exquisite oyster dressings, fresh seafood, great wine list and fantastic staff. Definitely worth a visit.
I saw in a review that this was BYO.....now it is licensed with a very good small non commercial wine list. The spicy miso hit the spot. But then i am a fan of spice and heat in food. The fried tofu salad was light, yet full of flavour and a nice savoury/umami taste/texture to it.The snow roll with scallops was amazing. The warm ingredients were very well matched in texture and tastes with the cool ingredients.A great informal venue. They also do takeaway. And there is a second venue in Bondi as well (Campbell Pde). Was certainly not, in a very good and positive way, what I was expecting of a seafood/Japanese restaurant. The 2 guys, Max and sorry forgot the other guy's name, were welcoming and attentive to detail and service.Highly recommended.
They've done it! I wasn't sure whether the quality at the Bondi's Best hole-in-the-wall in Campbell Pde could be replicated, but it has been. And it's as delicious as ever!
We had a really good dinner here on a Friday night. The host knew it was going to be a busy night and we didn't have a booking but he sat us anyway which was nice. Luckily we're American which means it takes us 5.2 seconds to eat most dishes.<br/ <br/ We ordered the scallops to start and had the barramundi and ahi for mains. The food was very tasty and I definitely recommend going. Just beware that the prices are no joke--pretty expensive to eat here casually. We were well over $100 for two of us only ordering 3 dishes and without any alcohol.
