Artisan Eats - Bowen Island

We have been there twice, the second time was just to see if the not quite rude but slightly snotty service was just a one off. Unfortunately, it was not as the second visit was worse. The food is good but the laid back island vibe image they try to portray does not exist in this place. The menu makes it very clear that you better not ask for any modifications even if it is as simple as no mustard, please. That request caused a lot of discussion (some of it in French) and stressed looks on staff's faces and right in front of us. There are signs telling you to relax as you're not on the mainland now but clearly, the staff has not read it. The guy who I presume is the owner seems very uptight and that transfers to the staff.The food was good but the vibe sucks.

Good crusty bread, nicely melted cheese, crunchy salad. Nice job. Pleasant patio with shaded tables. Good spot for a relaxed lunch.

Went for eggs benny and also bought sandwiches and snaks for a picnic. A must go. A nice sunny patio as well. Don't miss it.

Julie and Christophe have built themselves an amazing reputation on the island. French pastries... awesome muffins... French breads... great sandwiches and an array of delicacies come from the kitchen for breakfast and lunch.

Whipped in there hoping to find a sandwich for lunch and was not disappointed!! Lots of people there was a good sign!! Very friendly staff and speedy service got me back to work to enjoy the offering!! Highly recommend!!
