Bidra med feedbackFollowing a wine tasting in Boynton Beach, some friends suggested we go to the Lakeside Anchor Inn. I had heard about this place throughout the years as a local hangout out of Lantana; no frills, come as you are, drink Bud Light, eat wings, play pool, with a decent view of the lake in the background. Located off of Hypoluxo Road just west of High Ridge Road, the Anchor is a little hidden outside of the sign that doesn 't necessarily stick out as you would hope. If you don 't know where you 're going, you can blink and miss the turn. It doesn 't help that there 's a church property in front of the Anchor, facing onto Hypoluxo. There is no accessible entrance from the street entrance through the church parking lot to the Anchor. Instead, you have to turn right on the street after the church, followed by another right and take that down to the end where you will see the Anchor... (wait for it) on the right. Just consider the directions right ... unless you 're coming from the west then it 's left and two right turns. But I digress. I did like they had some scotches I like to drink like the Balvenie 12 and Glenfiddich 15. That kept me going. I ordered peel and eat shrimp for my lady and wings (flats only) for me. They were savory, enjoyed myself immensely while having some laughs with friends as they played pool and kept that Saturday evening real. Now that I live and work farther away than I used to, I wouldn 't call this my go to even if I did live closer. But for what the Anchor is a local dive bar with a Polynesian outdoor bar and an indoor lounge with a pool table, it 's an alright hangout where you can chill for a drink.
This was my first visit to this restaurant. It had a nice large deck area with lake views. It was such a nice day, I wanted to be outside. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. It was decent. Not much filler which is always a plus. The fries were extremely salty. The serving size was on the small side and overpriced in my opinion. I don't think I'll run back here anytime soon but glad I tried it.
Living the local life, Heard lots about this place being on Lake Ida and having beautiful views, just never thought the reviews lived up to a visit but boy were we wrong. Great atmosphere, decent drink prices and the food was much better than I expected. People are people and if you go to a bar during Covid, expect what you are comfortable with. If you want total masked patrons and servers, go elsewhere! If you want to be in the fresh air and not wear a mask at all times, you will be pleased by the water view and the friendly wait staff. The menu was expansive and we stuck to mostly the happy hour menu which goes until 7pm. There are quite a few items that are $7 on HH. The calamari was fresh, NOT FROM A BOX! It came out in a basket with marinara sauce and a small cup of aoli sauce. Very good. The wings in a medium seasoning were the best I have had anywhere else in town as a local! Also ordered a cuban sandwich which Kevin recommended. Spot on and the bagged fries were not disappointing! I don't buy them at home and like them crispy when ordered out! As for the atmosphere, everyone was very chill wherever they were seated. Saw a guy take a bucket of beer bottles to a picnic table down by the water, saw a couple grab a table next to their Harleys on the parking lot and plenty of happy singles with a drink or two parked at the bar. Too many drink specials to recall but the $5 double vodkas served me well and even more reason to return. Long time bar friend Carrie was not working on this venture but as much as we wanted to say hello, all of the tiki servers seemed awesome! Great staff, loved the locals and the food was bomb... going to order alligator next week!!!
Our last trip here was average so we decided to try it again. I chose the shrimp with a crabcake stuffing. The stuffing was lacking flavor, tasting rather flat. Vegetable was ok, but the risotto was sticky and heavy. The lobster bisque was great. They offer a groupon, which can make it a better deal.
Veryvsad to report that this placed has closed. Based on my communications with their Facebook page they are looking to reopen at another location and the new owners of this location plan on reopening in a few months.
