Bidra med feedbackAs for the food? It was fantastic! Since my mom chose Shephard’s pie, I went with the fish and chips. I have to say, my expectations were different. Usually, when I order this at other Irish bars, I get a lot of batter and very little fish. Not here! The batter was nice and thin, with large portions of fish. It had a great crispy texture and a perfect balance of saltiness. The fries were also excellent. I couldn’t get enough of it! I tried the Shephard’s pie too, which turned out to be genuinely good. It looked small at first, but once I dug in, I realized it was filling enough for one person. The cheese stick appetizer was the reason I couldn’t help my mom finish it, and those sticks were perfect, too! I even saved some sauce to dip my fish in. I can’t recall what kind of beer I ordered, but it was a red ale that tasted pretty similar to what I brew at home. I originally wanted to try a cream ale to refine my understanding of its flavor and texture. I’ve brewed three batches using different techniques but wanted to get a clearer idea of what to aim for. Cream ales are corn-based, and some include lactose sugar while others don’t. I make a creamy ale using lactose sugar both during fermentation and priming, which gives it a silky texture. However, a true cream ale isn’t creamy at all! I guess I’ll have to keep coming back until I get the chance to try whatever they have on tap. And before you suggest I just buy it in bottles, let me clarify: there’s a big difference between kegs and bottles. Kegs can handle a raw, pure blend without issue, while bottles are managed very carefully to prevent explosions. As for why I’d go to bars when I can make my own beer? Well, I like to support all brewers and bars, plus sometimes it’s nice to venture out a bit! Joking aside, I truly enjoyed my visit and am considering coming back in the evening to check out the live shows. I definitely need to get out more!
A solid local pub/bar, OIP has been a staple in the Brandon area for many years. The food is decent—nothing particularly extravagant—with a strong focus on fried dishes. They also offer a variety of sandwiches and burgers. The beer was cold and quite delicious.
I visited this place to catch the Ohio State football game, and it's clearly a dedicated Ohio State bar. Reservations are a must if you want a seat. Unfortunately, the food we tried was disappointing. We ordered the appetizer platter, which included three Reuben egg rolls that were simply inedible for me. I make them at home using sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing. While theirs might have featured similar ingredients, the filling was completely ground up, resulting in a mushy texture with indistinguishable flavors. We left two and a half egg rolls untouched on the platter and mentioned it to the waitress, but she just looked at us blankly. On a positive note, they do know how to pour a proper Guinness, which is a skill not every bartender possesses.
I highly recommend O'Brien's. Brandon if you're planning on holding a party or event. I held a close friend's birthday party in the party room and it was a huge success. Tamara is an absolute gem and has a love for her job that shows. I can't thank her enough for all her help and suggestions with the food menu, party room and drinks. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was delicious with many of our guests complimenting. Thank you to the staff of O'Brien's and especially to Tamara for all your help and our server Andrea who we kept very busy but she kept a very big smile on her face.
Tomorrow is St Patricks Day!! OBriens has been a Tampa Bay Irish Pub staple for a long time! It's been one of my family's favorite local eateries for the past 17 years! They go all out for St Patty's Day with tents in the parking lot, plenty of Killians and Guinness flowing, popular Irish pub fare like shepherds pie and fish chips, Irish music, bagpipes and green beer! Check out my last 3 slides for their other acclaimed events to keep the celebration going long after March 17th comes and goes! We love their loaded potatoes skins, Shepherds pie and fish chips. These are items that will definitely be available tomorrow along with the rest of their Irish pub fare like bangers and mash! You can sip on Killians and Guinness as well as green beer! Sláinte!
