Bidra med feedbackOne if not the best Banh mi I had. Amazing. Also cheap! After shopping at the Haight it is definitely worth a lunch break.
I tried the Oxtail Noodle Soup for $16 (w/tax+tip). The soup was served in a large disposable soup cup so it was a little difficult to maneuver with chopsticks or a spoon. The soup was too salty for my Asian palate and the portions were small and not enough noodles for a noodle soup. Thought it was too pricey for the portion.
I first stumbled upon them at The Truck Stop. We tried the lemongrass pork and the five spice chicken. The meat was tender and juicy. The food was good. Also the iced coffee was so good! The truck is really efficient the wait is never too long.
They had a special chicken soup today, which sounded perfect for the chilly weather. The broth was light and garnished with green onions and cilantro to give it a fresh brightness. Could've used a little more salt, but it didn't taste bad and had a decent chicken flavor. I wish it was hotter, though. It's just not as appetizing to have lukewarm soup. Also, I think it'd be better if they used a larger container. They used this little soup container and stuffed it with vermicelli, chicken, and sliced pork roll. With everything together, there's not a lot of space left for the broth. Since everything was limited by the size of the tiny container, it felt incomplete. Serving it in a larger container with more noodles and broth would definitely make it more wholesome.
Food: 3 Decor: 3 Service: 4 Saw them at Frost for MGMT, and I opted for the steak and egg banh mi, which was $9. The line was reasonably long (10+ people), and I waited over 20 min before I got my food. Steak was cooked well and paired decently with the banh mi ingredients and fried egg, but it was hard to justify the price.
