New Canton Restaurant - Brisbane

Don't be put of by the decor of this restaurant. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety of food here. The best Chinese in Brisbane is my recommendation....don't hesitate to try.

Having wrote a good review of this establishment a year or so ago I thought it time to review it again.I believe owne, the seatig rship changed some time ago & on the last 2 visits we found the quality to have gone right off. Last week we chose to give them one more try so off we went. AS mentioned elsewhere the decor is abismal & unclean, the seating is literally falling apart, the menus need to go to the rubbish tip, so nothing has changed.We ordered salt & pepper prawns, kung po beef & boiled rice. The prawns were greasy & had far too much salt in the batter, & left a bad taste in the mouth. The kung po beef came out virtually cold, I mean it wasn't even a little warm. I suspect it was cooked & left for some time in the kitchen before delivery. The boiled rice was OK how could you make a mistake with thatI was going to send the beef back but decided it wasn;t worth the hassle as there was only one girl serving the restaraunt & the take out & we had already waited 50 minutes to be servedAll this cost $42.00Needless to say we have taken this place off our eating out locations & won't be back untl it gets another new owner

The food is alway's first class but not sure why the TV is always on having. Would be nice to have some background music like they used to.

We make a point of eating here at least once a month, the food is delicious, the servings are large, the service is quite fast if you go early as it is very popular & gets full up most nights, as the shop is not very large.This chinese rates as good as any in Brisbane & we've tried a lot of themK.J

We had a great meal out for an annual pilgrimage to celebrate Chinese New Year with friends at New Canton Restaurant at Aspley Brisbane. There has been a Chinese here for a long time, and the worn seats and faded paint add to the atmosphere . You feel like you have discovered a local secret. The food was great, big portions and was not rushed out, giving us time to talk over a couple of drinks. The staff were very friendly, and were happy to provide a container to take the left overs home. No hassles dining and easy to park at. Don't expect silver ware and plush seats it's just a great place to relax and eat. I will be going back for sure.
