Outback Steakhouse - Aspley - Brisbane

Going back a year or 2 this restaurant was fantastic. However our dinner tonight to celebrate my mothers birthday was a disappointment. 2 couples ordered the share steak plate, which was a good size, both were ordered medium, one came out well done and the other whilst perfectly cooked was full of grizzle. This comes with one side dish, which was a small serve of frIes, which is way too small. The meal also comes with one small bowl of potato soup to share between 2 people. We had to wait 45 mins for food to arrive, which is not good when dining with bored children. The blooming onions used to be huge, now they are about half the size. They have also reduced the menu options and increased prices. The only good thing was the free soft drink refills, they charge $5.95 for a drink, but with 3 refills works out cheap. This used to be my favourite restaurant, unfortunately won't be going back.

We visit the Steakhouse often for family outings. This may be a steakhouse, and their steaks are exceptional, but their non-steak menu options are also very good. The Ahi Tuna is amazing!

We ordered a steak meal and a burger meals. We skipped entrees so order a beer each. We waited a while for the beer to be then offered a cider!? We said we ordered a beer, bot a cider so we then waited again. Meals came, chips were cold and the medium steak was well done. Vegies side was 7 bits of small vegies! The couple opposite didn't finish their meals, they noticed that we noticed and they said their meals wasn't good. We won't be back for a long while.

We used to love this place, but this last time we went it seems they've taken a few of the dishes off the menu (my husband and son are huge steak lovers but I usually go for their other dishes which there is less variety now). What was really disappointing was I went for the soup and side salad combo with prawn add-on. The soup was good, and the prawns on the salad were delish but not good enough to charge $8 per prawn. Yes, there were only 2 prawns, and the add-on cost was $15.95. We did question the waitress who said that was the 'add-on' cost. So for Soup and side salad (small) ($13.95) with 2 prawns cost $29.90.

Back in America the Outback Steakhouse was our go to place for anytime we wanted an affordable but good meal. We are so delighted it has opened here! My favorite is the Outback special. I get a ceaser salad with it and usually a jacket potato- fully loaded! The yummy free bread at the beginning of the meal sets just the right tone for the deliciousnes that is to come. The Aspley Outback makes a great Long Island Ice Tea, too. We rarely have room left for dessert because the portions are so nice... but from time to we have shared the is it Chocolate thunder??? Brownie with ice cream?? The steaks are always good just as ordered and the staff is usually friendly and good. ( we once had a server who really really acted as if she didn't want to be there but that was just once.) There are free refills on soft drinks. And the AUTHENTIC non-lemany sweet ice tea is devine!!
