I wanted to support the local seafood industry so went with seafood chowder instead of the good looking $18 burgers. I also I ordered spring rolls . They were homemade and oily .. and only 3. I live close to lots of Vietnamese restaurants. 3 for $14 they would want to be special.I love a chowder big time. I lived in New England so have been spoilt. I thought the board said $24 which I thought expensive. The chowder was small.. 2 med prawns and 2 small piece of Fish... lots of cream. I asked woman serving for a reviept. She was too flusted. On train home I checked bank . $44 I was charged omg. I called pub and owner insists soup is $30 and good value. Maybe if your Malcolm Turnbull.GreAt spot but wis I'd gone to the chippy opp train.Nice spot not worth the dosh!! I'd been wanting to come here for so long... most expensive chowder in nsw
Had a late lunch here with gorgeous views and a warm sunny table. Efficient service but no pumpkin soup even though it was on the chalkboard. Never mind, the chips were crispy and plentiful and the chicken / Greek salad combination was delicious. We followed lunch with a short trip to Dangar Island and back ($45 for 3 adults return). A little pricey but worth it to get out on the river. Had a quick view of some houseboats with a possible plan to holiday here but they were not very impressive. Lake McQuarie has a better choice.
Nice atmosphere attached to pub. But on a few occasions I have visited the wait staff have been less than cheerful. And have been made to feel like an inconvenience. I feel for the owner because my experience would excellent if it was not for the staffs attitude
Made the easy drive from Sydney on a Sunday, and met friends halfway in Brooklyn. There is limited parking near the pub and we had to park around the corner and down the street. We didnt have a booking but the restaurant fitted us in. The seating was in a covered outdoor area, which was airy and sunny. Heaters were dotted around for warmth if needed. We read the board menu and then ordered at the front counter. Average wait for our food, prices were ok, but food was nothing to write home about. It was edible, but not memorable. Will probably try somewhere else next time. Highlight of the visit was walking along the waters edge.
