Popped into La Tomate Blanche in the heart of the South Shore's Dix30 shopping and entertainment district for a quick lunch. Located on the second floor (above the Japanese resto Niji), La Tomate Blanche has a very modern urbane decor with large windows allowing in tremendous amounts of natural lighting against a predominantly white decor, giving it more of a Miami feel than suburban Montreal. Coincidentally, we ended up ordering the exact same dishes from the Table d'Hote...the soup of the day, Broccoli Soup (excellent...one of the best versions I've had) and the Ravioli di Zucca (ravioli stuffed with pancetta in a creme sauce (also excellent). High regards for the pasta dish. Overall service was very friendly and pleasant with the meal being delivered promptly and in keep with a faster lunch service. Worth a visit if you are in the area. I had the worst service I have ever had at any restaurant, the waitress was very, very unprofessional to say the least. Everyone was gone and we were one of the last people left and we had to wait for 45 minutes to be served our dessert which was part of the a la carte menu, so we didn't even have to order it and were waiting for no reason. The waitress passed by our table multiple times, just ignoring us each time and served everyone else besides us. Eventually after waiting 45 minutes, I had to flag down another person (seemed to be the manager) and with no apologies for the wait, he called the waitress to get the dessert which had been sitting there the whole time (at that point, we noticed it was already ready and sitting on a counter for 45 minutes instead of having been served to us). I was super disappointed in the service, I expect a lot better service for this calibre of restaurant and in fact from any restaurant. The service was so awful that for the first time in my life, I did not even want to leave a tip but I did anyway, even though the waitress really did not deserve it. I was recommended this restaurant for its good service however after my terrible and unprofessional experience with the waitress, I will not recommend Tomate Blanche to anyone. I was hopeful that some kind of action would have been taken as I wrote to the restaurant because I couldn't believe what awful service this was, so that other customers don't go through this same bad experience as I did. At least an acknowledgment from the restaurant that they received my email about this matter but after 2 weeks, I have heard nothing back. I usually do not write these types of emails but really felt it necessary to do so in this case. Extremely disappointing experience, this incompetent waitress totally ruined our evening. Besides bad service in house they also have bad customer service. Extremely disappointing and the food wasn't that great either for the price especially. Mediocre American-Italian food at an exaggerated price, it's not even authentic. Save your money and time. Avoid at all costs.
Everything was excellent, relaxed atmosphere and great service. We will return there Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
