Bidra med feedbackWe were a group of 6 and attended without a reservation. They do take reservations. The outside is plain and unassuming but inside is surprisingly roomy. White linens on the tables. Lots of square and round tables of various sizes. It appears they can accommodate tables of 10 down to tables for two.We were seated right away and a hot pot of tea put on the table and once all guests arrived, they took our orders, and asked if we needed a fork (chopsticks were already on the place setting). Most of us ordered the "Combo for one" but two ordered the combo for two. The lazy susan wasn't necessary for our orders but it was handy to put our phones and keys on!The orders came out at the same time, seemed fresh and hot. I was happy with the broccoli - not under or over cooked, and bright green. It tasted how I'd expect for a typical Americanized Canadian Chinese food, which I appreciate. The chow mein looked greasy (another guest ordered it) but they ate it all up without complaint so I'd say it was good. The pork fried rice was awesome with large chunks of pork, lots of egg, and not greasy at all.The combo for 1 was $12.05 all in. Extremely reasonable.I didn't look hard at the floor or walls and I did not visit the rest room so I can't comment on that. The impression is clean.I'd return because of the price, the service and the food.
I had lunch here with friends today. I used to come here for several years in the past and then just got away from it because I worked on the south side of Burnaby instead of the north. I've been back twice recently and I will definitely become a regular again. The food is incredibly delicious, the service is excellent, and the owner, Anthony, is very welcoming and friendly. After both of my recent visits, I got take out for my adult kids and they also think the food is fantastic! Thanks, Anthony, and staff! I'll be back soon.
I usually order the congee, the spicy tofu or mapo tofu, and the sweet and sour pork. The food here is fresh, tasty and good, old fashioned canadian-chinese style. Nothing too fancy, but generally satisfying.
We visited Double One because a group of our friends insisted upon a Chinese dinner in North Burnaby. Today's evening repast was quite enjoyable and only cost $22 per person (2 tables of 10 persons each.) Our dinner arrived promptly (too promptly because the entrees arrived before we could finish our soup.) Overall it was a very enjoyable dinner.
This is a great place if you like good Chinese Food, it's not quite real authentic but authentic enough, especially for the locals :). Don't let the decor fool you, think of it as being the big win for the good food. The staff are friendly and helpful, the service is very good. Ask them about the specials and ask them for recommendations, you can't go wrong. Tony and his team will take great care of you and the family. 2 thumbs up!
