El Comal - Burnaby

I have been going to El Comal for several years now, first to get fresh Totillas, and peppers, Elsa started with occasional snacks, presented for free to her loyal customers, many who just liked to hang out and enjoy the aromas and flavors of Mexican food, and to enjoy the hispanic atmosphere, where Spanish is spoken more than English at times. Now there is a full menu, and Elsa has annexed the next room for dining, very casual, you order at the till, and her Husband or herself brings you your plate, artfully presented, well beyond what you are paying.

My co-worker told me about this odd little Mexican place which is actually a full on food distributor with a retail kitchen. While the food is delicious and very authentic, they prepare it for the feint of heart and you have to request spicy salsa if you wish to spice it up.

Website says they close at 5. I drove out of my way to come here. They said they don't serve food after 4pm. Then why don't you put that on the Google page?

Great food, lovely service, and a fair price. Food is out faster than McDonald's, and is definitely a lot healthier. Delicious! Gracias :

Food is decent. Poor value. About $16.40 for burrito with small sides of rice and beans (in take-out box), compared to a mucho burrito at Mucho Burrito for $1 more. El Comal has about 4 filling items and 3 topping sauces, compared to 9-10 items and unlimited sauce that Muchos offers (including guac) and about 3 to 4x the meat (as pic shows).
