Byron Beach Cafe - BYRON BAY

Fabulous view. Service was excellent, but the food was terrible The muscle boullion was way too salty. The muscles release their salt water as they open. The soup base should be delicate. The main fettuccine was not even a small entree size and the steak was almost inedibly salty. Terrible.

This is a good spot for a glass of wine at lunch or dinner. The menu is pricey but the restaurant does offer some delicious entrees. The views of the beach and the ocean are gorgeous. Be sure to ask for a table close to the railing for the most unobstructed pictures. Cheers!

It's called Beach. It's on a beach. But there is nothing beach about the vibe of this place. From the bouncer checking footwear on the way in to the pompous menu. I'm all for people coming from around the world bringing great ideas and food to locations that deserve nothing but the best. But as the reviews validate the owners have taken something away from this magical beachside perch without adequately bringing something of real quality. There is an unwritten rule. You are only allowed to kill a scarce beachside cafe with something new if you bring your best game. You have to have the kitchen and service that is behind the laundered white aprons. If you want to look down on people make sure you have claimed the high ground. Beach cafe is now more of a venue hire run by Caterers.

The food was generally quite tasty. I had the rump steak which was tasty however a bit salty. I was not given the option of how well cooked I wanted it and it was brought out rare medium rare which was fine for me as I like my steak medium rare however may be an issue for some. Food was quite nice however fairly expensive. This being said, a main draw is the location with a fantastic view over the ocean and a nice overall atmosphere. I noted that a lot of the food was quite salty.

Beautiful setting. Good service. Great food. But why the 3 stars? It is 'eat the view ' type prices... $15 for granola, and $20 for two eggs benedict! They also run a takeaway window, so it 's best to grab a few snack things and then head down to Clarke 's and picnic on the beach
