A GOOD EFFORT! This Mexican restaurant was previously listed as El Tarasco and was was housed along with a Mexican grocery store on 3rd Avenue. It is now located just down the street on Highway 84 and has a new name. The restaurant cannot be missed as it is located directly across from Goody 's Clothing Store in a bright orange building. When we walked inside, we noticed that the immediate dining area was dark and not in use while the main area was lit and obviously being used as the sole dining room. There is plenty of seating in this spacious restaurant and it was very warm and comfortable when we visited. The seating consisted of wooden tables and chairs and there was a bar area at the center of the room. The ladies working here were very kind as they brought us menus to review in advance of our order. Since they do not have a menu posted on line, they really need to invest in paper to go menus. After a while, we decided to place an order to go: I decided to order just the bean and rice sides to accompany my homemade soup while my husband ordered a large chicken burrito with jalapenos and a side of chips and guacamole. The chips were interesting and obviously freshly prepared. They tasted like very light pita chips and could definitely be addictive. My beans and rice were fine but I think that the rice could have used a bit more Mexi-seasoning. My husband 's burrito was very well seasoned but I do like to break up the carbs with a nice balance of fresh grilled vegetables. As is customary with more traditional Mexican restaurants, vegetables are just not a part of the menu and that can be a problem. I enjoy eating a generous serving of vegetables with my Mexican dishes to break up the heaviness and give me a more balanced bite. The ladies were very generous with the condiments and sauces ordered by my husband. That guacamole was exceptional and will definitely be tops on our list of things to reorder. If Michoacan wants to stand out from the others, they should consider adding fresh grilled vegetables and vegetable based entrees to their menu and post a complete menu on line.
Food is unique , authentic and great . this place is underrated even though it is not as fancy as other restaurants but this restaurant is unique because it is more Mexican than American Mexican . Waiters are Nice and Welcoming .
Any Mexican restaurant that lists steamed goat, cheek meat and beef tongue tacos must be trying to appeal to an audience that appreciates authentic Mexican food. I had two of the three. Very good and very simple. Also good guacamole and freshly fried chips.
This is an authentic Mexican restaurant in every way. I've eaten lunch there twice and didn't go away disappointed. Homemade chips with salsa was nice. I've had the burrito and enchilada plates. Both were good portions and very tasty. My son likes the enchiladas verde. Tried Horchata for the first time and loved it! The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Enjoy!
