Hy's Steakhouse - Calgary

My husband and I had a night out for our anniversary and we chose to dine at Hy’s. The restaurant was very nice. The service was amazing. Our server Tony did everything possible to make our evening a memorable one. He was very attentive and helpful. My steak did come out a bit too rare (as I asked for medium) and since I had to wait 7 minutes for a new one Tony did make up for it by bringing us out a complimentary dessert. The food was amazing. We even had 2 servers come out and remove our lobster tails for us! The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the mac and cheese. I was expecting something more creamy and cheesy but since everything else was top notch, this did not bother me. There was a live band playing which was also very nice. Would I come again? Maybe not as it was a very expensive night out and would only go there for a special occasion.

Food and service was good. Found the prices very high for the type and quality of food. Worth a try however have found many better places to eat in Calgary at much better value.

We had a lovely small reception after a long day meeting. although we were standing there were tables for setting the drinks. tried the local porter which i would have again. although it was crowded we could still hear our conversations.

The service at Hy's was impeccable. Cocktails are mixed perfectly. Table side ceasar salad was delicious. The steaks were average. Overpriced for the food but the setting was nice. I would rather have said the food was worth the money but sadly not so.

Exquisite staff and ambiance, even though we were in jeans. We were out for the day and decided we wanted a good steak and caesar salad. Hy's had been rated well for their caesar - so we stopped in without a reservation and were able to be seated. I was familiar with the small chain, having eaten at Hy's in Ottawa several times - but didn't realized there was a Hy's in Calgary also. We enjoy seeing the meat being cooked behind glass and the impeccable old-school service. I had never ordered the caesar salad, since typically the Cheesy bread (that I just can't pass on) and the Filet are plenty of food for me. But tonight we shared the order and they made the dressing right at our table from fresh ingredients and it did not disappoint! I ordered Beef Wellington - something you want to get only at a good place, and it was amazing - I tell you I could cut the Filet with a fork! We closed with dessert and coffee - both also very good, and left stuffed. For amazing service, great food, and not too high end pricing (bit more then other chain steak houses, but well worth it,) Try out Hy's!
