Bidra med feedbackMy best friend from college and I celebrated turning 60 at Roman Camp after 8 days in the Outer Hebrides. Roman Camp is down a very narrow road from the town--and you pass from village to beautiful gardens and even peacocks. The buildings date back hundreds of years but have been lovingly maintained including a library, sun room, chapel and bar area. The food was superb (the chef has been at the hotel for decades--and is still creative and uses wonderful ingredients) and the service from staff impeccable. Chris was terrific getting us settled and providing direction as well as dinner in the library with excellent drinks. We also received excellent bar service from Barnaby--including ideas for pub music at night. I would recommend Roman Camp highly and look forward to returning some day soon.
A beautiful setting for afternoon tea with the family! Having a room to ourselves definitely helped with entertaining the 3 year old. No shortage of food and the tea flowed freely.
Outstanding luxury hotel. Excellent service by the staff. Our room was small by American luxury standards but that was more than made up for by the wonderful public spaces in the hotel. We spent several hours each day reading and enjoying tea in the library and the drawing room while it rained outside. The breakfast and bistro restaurant are equally outstanding.
Great location and beautiful grounds. Unfortunate that there was terrible service from the beginning to the end of our stay. After booking our stay, we arrived to a tiny attic room where our group members could not even stand up straight in the room. No air conditioning working, blazing hot, no curtains on the windows. Our rooms were split apart on opposite ends of the hotel even though they were booked together. Did not have a good experience at breakfast with waiters being rude. Would loved to have enjoyed our stay as this was such a beautiful town and we enjoyed walking around the garden, but the service was so bad, it really messed up the stay.
Excellent stay with really lovely gardens and restaurant. Great amenities with thoughtful instructions. Would note there is no elevator that I noticed so bags have to be carried up the stairs. Highly recommend checking out the potting shed restaurant but be sure to make advance reservations.
