Denny's - Calumet-Norvelt

On that note, I want to give a shout-out to Raphael Ehilen, the owner and operator of one of the best Denny’s in the Washington Capitol Region! The wait staff and the manager on duty during my visit were friendly, polite, and exceptionally professional. Honestly, I haven’t experienced such a good Denny’s in years. During a recent business trip nearby, I stopped in and ordered the Grand Slamwich: it features scrambled eggs, sausage, crispy bacon, shaved ham, mayo, American cheese on grilled potato bread, finished off with maple spice spread, and served with hash browns. It was like a monster Monte Cristo—absolutely delicious! The presentation was spot-on, as you can see in my photo. The restaurant itself was immaculate, well-decorated, and truly deserves the title of the best sit-down restaurant east of the river. I’m genuinely happy for the community and for Raphael, as I was part of a community development team over a decade ago that helped him overcome the odds to establish this restaurant. Those who doubted its success have been proven wrong. If you want to experience the best that Denny’s has to offer in the region, this location is unquestionably the one to visit. Bon appétit!
