Marriot Lobby - Canada

I spent last night at the Courtyard Marriott. Though I could see the airport from my room, it was crazy roundabout route to get here (about a 15 minute drive). There was a golf course next door . My room was $169 (plus taxes) for the night. WIFI (the free one was quick) and parking were complementary. There was a safe and a mini-fridge. I like when the bed is in the non-traditional spot ... it was comfy. There was a business lounge downstairs so you could surf or print off your flight tickets. There was a fitness centre and pool (though I didn't have a chance to check them out). There are restaurants across the street (and a restaurant and Starbucks in the lobby). I'd stay here again.

I was here just this past week on business and I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Very Clean and comfortable rooms..they were actually pretty cozy feeling which is not always easy to achieve in cookie cutter hotel rooms. The shower is worth it's own mention. Probably my favourite feature of the rooms. Amenities on site were handy, although I cannot attest to the Pool or Gym as this was a short work stay with a jam packed schedule. I did however eat dinner at the in house restaurant/bar. I had a Veggie burger which was good but nothing to write home about. In my experience that's typical of many hotel restaurants. The wine I ordered was just ok, I get the feeling the bottle had been opened the day before but honestly my meal was satisfying and the convenience of being able to just crawl bag to my room and get some shut eye was what prompted em to look no further and eat there rather than searching for other restaurants nearby. I'll save you some time there aren't many .. Moxies was all I saw a couple blocks over. I really like the staff here. Everyone from the front desk personal to the wait staff at the cafe and restaurant were courteous and attentive. A small touch that I liked is when you walk into your room the TV is on playing a Marriott advert and welcoming me by name into my room. So silly but for someone who travels a lot to walk into the room and be greeted personally definitely put a smile on my face. Small details can sometimes make all the difference.

Finding a moderately priced hotel in Calgary during the week with short notice was a challenge... I called at least five downtown hotels and was quoted rates of $300 $750 a night. I was almost ready to give up when I came across this Marriott Courtyard by the airport. Of course, in my opinion it's still a bit pricey for a Courtyard at approximately $200 a night, but I bit the bullet and booked here and it worked out just fine. This hotel is clean, modern, spacious and offers reliable free wifi and friendly service. It's only about ten minutes from the airport and they have a free shuttle that goes there every hour. They also have a decent looking restaurant (although I didn't eat there) and a fitness room and pool (although sadly, I didn't make it to either of those either). The bedding wasn't the softest, highest quality, but that's really my only complaint. Oh yeah that and the fact that the alarm clock in my room was set to super loud on a fuzzy radio station and it woke me up on my first morning at 5am or so and scared the sh*t out of me! I made sure to turn it off after that but note to MC staff: please check alarm clocks between guests to make sure no one else has a similar experience it was not fun and I had a hard time falling back asleep after that! Next visit to Calgary, I'll try to plan ahead to stay downtown where there is more action, but I'd stay here again without complaining if need be; I'd just make sure to turn off that alarm clock!

I've stayed at this hotel a few times for work. The atmosphere is nothing special, just your basic hotel lobby bar. The food is pretty good, not award winning my any means, but enjoyable. The staff however, every time, have been really great, Very friendly and fast. I really appreciate that in an establishment.

Great location next to the airport. Excellent facilities, and very good service. Rooms are spacious. Lobby area has lots of comfortable sitting spaces. Free Wi-fi.
